Christa Clausen Tear
October 24, 1939 - December 31, 2015
Christa Clausen Tear, 76, of Marietta, GA, passed away December 31, 2015. She was born in Atlanta, GA to parents, Adaline Sample and Carl Gustav Clausen on October 24, 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Harry Raymond Tear, Jr. She graduated from Ashley Hall in Charleston, where she met Harry while he attended The Citadel. Mrs. Tear enjoyed traveling the world as the wife of an Army Officer but returned to her beloved hometown, Savannah, upon retirement. She was a past president of the Junior League in Hawaii and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
She is survived by: son, Harry Raymond Tear III and his wife Jennifer Bradbury Tear; daughter, Christa Tear Venable and her husband Rick Venable; and grandchildren, Lauren Alina Tear and Harry Raymond Tear IV. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Bonaventure Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Green-Meldrim House.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Humane Society for Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.
